Forum Steering
Committee Commitment Form
The UPnP™ Forum Membership Agreement states that Steering Committee members must execute a written commitment form, pursuant to the following guidelines as stated in the UPnP™ Forum Membership Agreement:
(i) Commit in writing to the general development, commercialization, and marketing of UPnP™ compliant devices. The degree and timing of such development and commercialization shall be left to the discretion of the individual member.
(ii) Agree to participate in at least one Working Committee, and
(iii) Agee to actively promote and publicly endorse the UPnP™ Forum and its standardization objectives.
The UPnP™ Forum Membership Agreement further
states that the initial Steering Committee will create the member commitment
form. This document reflects the commitment
form for Steering Committee members as developed by an assigned task force of
the Steering Committee.
The following has been ratified by the full
Steering Committee.

In furtherance of Section 2 of the UPnP™ Forum Membership Agreement, the following is submitted.
All Steering Committee members commit to:
We, the Steering Committee members, commit to ensure that at least one representative from our respective firms attend at least seventy-five percent (75%) of regularly scheduled in-person meetings in the course of twelve (12) consecutive months, and contribute to the Steering Committee to aid in developing policies and procedures and the general governance of the UPnP™ Forum so as to further the Forum’s objectives.
We, the Steering Committee members, commit to ensure that at least one skilled individual from our respective firms regularly attend meetings of, and contribute to, one or more of the active Working Committees to aid in the development of UPnP™ Device Control Protocols (DCPs). Past contributions either as an author of at least one DCP through the template design complete milestone, a sample implementer of at least one DCP, chair/vice chair of a Working Committee, or launching of a UPnP™ certified product also meet the intent of this criterion. In particular, we intend to deliver at least one sample implementation (for example, simulation, demonstration, prototype, or product) for at least one DCP as produced by the Working Committees, according to the schedule for developing that DCP. Sample implementation does not necessarily imply building a related commercial product.
Product Development
and Commercialization:
We, the Steering Committee members, hereby commit to the general development and commercialization, of UPnP™ compliant devices, including but not limited to hardware, software, toolkits or other items, the degree and timing of such development and commercialization being left to the discretion of the individual member, which advances the goals of the UPnP™ Forum.
Funding
of Forum Administrative Activities:
We, the Steering Committee members, agree that Steering
Committee Member's commitment to the UPnP™
Forum
must include participation in payment of expenses related to
administration of the Forum. Consequently, we agree that Steering
Committee Members must be obligated to commit to an annual contribution
for purposes of meeting the collective administrative expenses of the UPnP™ Forum, which may include, but
are not limited to, shared expenses arising from
Promotion and Public
Endorsement:
We, the Steering Committee members, commit to actively promote and publicly endorse the UPnP™ Forum and its standardization objectives, which could involve requests for statements to the press, support for public speaking opportunities and participation in trade shows and similar events. In particular, we intend to directly participate in at least one industry event (for example, trade show, seminar, conference, or similar UPnP™ Forum promotional event as identified by the Member Relations Committee) during each year of our term on the Steering Committee. The number of events, at least one, that we will participate in and the level of participation is left to our discretion.
Funding of Forum
Promotional Activities:
We, the Steering Committee members, in addition to our commitment to help form the direction, policy, and technical specifications of the Forum, also commit to aid in the delivery of the UPnP™ Forum’s promotional messages through financial and direct participation in the promotional efforts of the Forum. We understand that from time to time, the Steering Committee members will be presented with promotional opportunities, such as statements to the press, support for public speaking opportunities, and participation in trade shows and similar events. We agree that the funding of these promotional opportunities will be in an amount entirely at the discretion of the Steering Committee member.
This Commitment Form (version dated 2006.05) supersedes any previously signed Commitment Form(s).
I understand that under the
Agreement, failure to comply with these statements could lead to my company’s
removal as a Steering Committee Member.
