Appendix D: UPnP™ Forum Working Committee Chair, Co-Chair, and Sub-Committee Chair Commitment Form

The UPnP™ Forum Membership Agreement states that Working Committee Chairpersons, Co-Chairs and Sub-Committee Chairs must be Forum Members:

(i) who are committed in writing to the general development and, commercialization and marketing of UPnP™ compliant devices, the degree and timing of such development and commercialization shall be left to the discretion of the individual Member, and

(ii) who have agreed to actively promote and publicly endorse the UPnP™ Forum and its standardization objectives.

The Membership Agreement further states that the initial Steering Committee will create the member commitment form. This document reflects the commitment form for Working Committee Chairs, Co-Chairs and Sub-Committee Chairs as developed by an assigned task force of the Steering Committee.

The following has been ratified by the full Steering Committee.

UPnP™ Forum Working Committee Chair, Co-Chair, and Sub-Committee Chair Member Commitment Form

In furtherance of Section 2 of the UPnP™ Forum Membership Agreement, the following is submitted.

All Working Committee Chair, Co-Chair, and Sub-Committee Chair members commit to:

Active Participation in the Working Committee:

I, the Working Committee Chair, Co-Chair, or Sub-Committee Chair member, agree to attend all meetings (including in-person and teleconference meetings) of, and contribute to, the Working Committee / Sub-Committee which I chair / co-chair -- absence due to extraordinary circumstances is excepted. I understand that this participation may require a significant amount of my working time.

Device Control Protocol (DCP) Development Leadership:

I, the Working Committee Chair, Co-Chair, or Sub-Committee Chair member, in offering my services to chair / co-chair a UPnP™ Forum Working Committee or Sub-Committee, verify that I have the needed level of technical and leadership skills and experience in the subject domain. As a Working Committee Chair, Co-Chair, or Sub-Committee Chair member I commit to lead the Working Committee or Sub-Committee in producing technically sound specifications, together with sample implementations and test suites, and to drive said specification to a standardized DCP in a timely fashion according to the UPnP™ Forum processes.

Product Development and Commercialization:

I, the Working Committee Chair, Co-Chair, or Sub-Committee Chair member, to achieve the goals of the UPnP™ Forum, am authorized on behalf of the entity I represent, to, at my Company’s sole discretion, commit to the general development and commercialization of UPnP™ compliant products, including but not limited to hardware, software, toolkits or other items, that advance the goals of the UPnP™ Forum.

Promotion and Public Endorsement:

I will, at my Company’s sole discretion actively promote and publicly endorse the UPnP™ Forum and its standardization objectives, which could include statements to the press, support for public speaking opportunities and participation in trade shows and similar events.

I understand that under the Agreement, failure to comply with these statements could lead to my removal as a Working Committee Chair, Co-Chair, or Sub-Committee Chair.
